For years home care nurses have spent countless hours shaping foam to fit wounds undergoing negative pressure therapy. The Liberty NPWT pump from Medela eliminates the need for foam, and speeds dressing changes.

The dressing kit uses a non-adherent layer along with simple Kerlix gauze. The drain is placed and the wound is covered with a flexible transparent dressing.

No Foam = Less Pain.

A common complaint of home care nurses is that the new granulating tissue grows into foam. Some patients have required sedation in order to remove foam dressings. This is eliminated by the non-adherent layer designed by the 3M Corporation.

Less Pressure = More Comfort

Since the vacuum is pulling through gauze, and not foam far less pressure is required by the Liberty pump. This is far more comfortable for the patient and increases compliance with the therapy.

Small and Light weight

The Liberty pump is just 5 pounds and comes with a carrying case. It has a small rectangular collection canister that includes a liquid solidifier for easy disposal. The Liberty has an on board battery and comes with a auto power adapter.

Usage reporting!

The Liberty records all patient use. It can be connected to a laptop (via dock) to retrieve the therapy hours. This can be vitally important to home health agencies with non-compliant patients.
